    Volunteer research assistants needed in London - deadline for applications May 18th!

    Would you like to offer your support to a worthwhile project? Would you like to gain experience and training in working with children and young people?

    The Children’s Society New Londoners Programme based in London is currently planning peer-led training, which will lead on to young people conducting a piece of research about the issues that affect them (they will decide the subject). As such, they're looking for volunteer research assistants who could support young people with the research.

    Their client groups involve refugees and new migrants (including Roma families) and they offer them support with a range of issues such as education, health, housing, welfare, mental health, immigration etc.

    In return you can expect one to one review meetings and support to progress your career. If you're able to commit to just a few hours a month or more, then they would really like to hear from you. They are looking for a minimum of 6 months commitment. The closing date for applications is the 18th May. For more details about the roles as well as an application form, please follow the link below:

    • Volunteer Opportunity through the Refugee Council
    • Further Education Teaching assistant
    • Mondays 10-4 for 12 weeks in a college in Hackney
    • Additional ½ to go through the course work and any home work before the next class at the Brixton Offices at the Refugee Council.

    Travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed

    The student is extremely keen to attend the course hoping to gain a level 2 qualification in Employability skills and personnel development. He has only been in the UK since November but is picking up English quickly but needs additional support to keep up.

    The projects aim is to encourage NEET 16-19 year old to gain a qualification and confidence to continue with employment or training. If you would like to volunteer please let me know.. Christina.Day@refugeecouncil .org.uk
